Dear my future kids..

Dear my future kids. There’s so much that i want to do with you; those things that you won’t be able to do, even with your best gadget. Things that will keep you busy, so busy that you will have no time to be curious about smoking, consuming illicit drug, or driving your motorcycle carelessly; for you have known that there’re many things that are more interesting AND beneficial as compared with those interesting-yet-stupid things. One of those things is singing TRG’s songs together. Hell yeah, I’m so gonna teach you those songs to make you learn and feel many things, to get you acknowledged with one of the richest and most beautiful sounds on earth. Along with those sounds, come many words and meaning. Some can be part of your wisdom, some others are part of your happy time. Well. Let’s do some sampling here..

As infant(s), you’ll probably have one of those english songs from the album “The World for Christmas” as your lullaby. I still can’t really decide, i’m a bit torn between “Chestnust roasting” or “The World forChristmas”, or maybe even “Nu Tandas Tusen Juleljus”. When you’re awake and feel like laughing, we can probably sing “Fina Paket” or “Julen ar Har” together with the messy Svensk. If you’re bored with that album, don’t worry, there’re still “Chili con Carne” and “Boogie Woogie Tango” that we can dance to; or “Waltz for Debby” and “Long Way to Go” for your lullaby.

When you’re in Freud’s anal phase and start to throw tantrums, or when you give me trouble to ask you sleeping, i’ll give you the song “Big Bad World”, “Tomtarnas Julnatt”, or “Fridfull och Stilla.” So much to explore with those happy-jumpy songs. Hopefully your bursts of energy would be accomodated so you’ll have less to spend on throwing tantrums. I’ll probably also start to teach you simple English and little Svensk you use in those songs. You’ll also learn about weather, and acknowledge that Indonesia is a beautiful country with beautiful beaches leading to vast blue ocean, and dense green forest that saves us water for the drought.
yes, kid, that's your country: Indonesia :)

By the time you start to read, you’ll be able to learn more songs and sing them correctly. Maybe you’ll also be able to start playing them with musical instruments –who knows. Until now, your mom never really master any instrument, but plan to learn piano. Maybe later you can help me studying piano, and even make songs. You can start writing lyrics, stories, and/or poems from things you have read and sung. You’ll be able to absorb much more, and express yourself even more. Music (or any other form of art) and words are good ‘vehicles’ for expressing yourself; and don’t worry, i’ll try my hardest to help you to become those people who can best utilize those ‘vehicles’. You can also learn to read dictionaries and encyclopedia, and further shape your dream from there.

When you start to get busy with your friends and don’t seem to need me anymore, i’ll still be watching you. At times when you don’t really realize it, i’ll start to get you acknowledges the wisdom inside the songs you have sung, and take you to another fun ride of word-play and tone-play. When you probably start to feel insecure about your look, I’d probably distract you by telling you those so called scientific things like.. the fact that a cat can die if you give it paracetamol because its hepatocytes don’t have enzyme complex required to metabolize the drug. I’ll get you to start reading my Psychiatry textbooks, convince you that this will help you to understand yourself and people around you –trust me, they really do help! You’ll also learn many other branches of art, science, and sports; each has its own special characteristics, and it’ll be up to you to decide which one that give you the most appeal, the one that you would probably choose as your way of living.

As you grow and develop further, you’ll gradually learn to stand on your own feet, make your own decisions, choose your own path. I’ll be watching you without you noticing me. The only thing you need to know is, everytime you feel like looking back to search for a clue, or everytime you feel like falling, I’m there. To give you that don’t-worry-you-can-do-it look, and of course, to catch you so that you’ll never really fall.

So. Until then, let’s just wait and see how it’ll go ;)
