Because the real galaxy isn't just a 5 inches thing..

I taught a topic about astronomy general knowledge for one of my English classes today, and suddenly I was just thrown back to those days in the fifth grade of elementary school. I remember my excitement back then when studying all those stars, planets, and galaxies. If only I weren't so stupid in physics, I might have started a career as an astronaut --or astronomer by now. It's just so cool to imagine myself going around in space; maybe waving 'hi' to an alien I might happen to pass on my way to Antares or so..
Neptune, my favorite planet. Dunno why, maybe because it's blue..

Then I see those kids who spend such long hours playing with their gadgets; and it just feels ironic. There's this super vast universe God has created, yet, we let our kids got "trapped" in a few inches space, with nothing really valuable to tell after that time-consuming activity.

And so I tell myself, If one day I ever had kids, I wouldn't let them trapped in that small space. I might not succeed; but I'd make sure they know that there're these jobs called astronaut, astronomer; there're those things called telescope, spaceship, spacesuit, gravity; there're those scientists named Newton, Copernicus, Galileo.. and such.

I believe that they should know that we're merely a super tiny part of a super huge thing. That way, they should stay humble and never feel any bigger than others.

I also believe that they should know that there're too many things in this universe we couldn't comprehend for we can't even notice them due to limitations in our senses. That way, they would learn not to blame both their own and others' unknowing --and whatever misunderstanding it may cause-- and internalize forgiveness as habit instead.

Last but not least, they should know that this universe is vast and wide, just as vast and wide as their chances to become whatever good thing they might and could be.. and that the sky is limitless, just as limitless as whatever good dreams they dare to dream of, and live up to.

I deeply believe, they deserve it.
This is the sky, and in our car we'll fly..
